Jack Gorland is a lifelong Michigander with a deep passion for forests, food systems, and natural materials. As the Research Analyst and Media Specialist for Urban Ashes, Jack brings a unique blend of expertise in forestry and media production. With an undergraduate background in film, he has created videos on these topics for social media, garnering hundreds of thousands of views. Jack recently completed his master’s in forestry at Michigan State University, where he focused on carbon projects, full circle forestry and urban wood utilization. Jack is proud to continue working in a field that diverts resources from waste streams and promotes localized economies.
